Spirit Retreat Open To The Public "Branson Entertainers Ignite, In Light, & Inspire!"
Branson, MO - Spirit Retreat, a two-hour hope filled and positive values based program, is opened to the public, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Braschler Music Theatre on Shepherd of the Hills Expressway. Guest speakers will be Rodney Dillard, Tony Melendez, and Mike Pitman. The By The River band will perform during Spirit Retreat.
Lori Proud, of the Braschler Music Theatre says, "Spirit Retreat focuses primarily on youth groups with a message from Branson entertainers to 'Ignite, In Light, & Inspire' everyone to apply Christian values in their everyday lives." There is a minimal charge of $5.00 per person for attendance.
Tony Melendez, the world-renowned toe-picking guitarist, will share the inspirational message, "Count Your Blessings Not Your Burdens". Melendez, star of his own show "The Gift of Hope" at the IMAX Entertainment Complex, was commissioned by Pope Paul II to be a hope giver for the world. Although challenged with a birth defect from the drug Thalidomide, Melendez has risen to international star status as a musician, singer, composer, author, and recording artist.
Along with countless international and television appearances, Melendez has received numerous honors. These include a Special Commendation from President Reagan as a positive role model for America; a Special Commendation from the State of California for work with young people; and the Inspirational Hero Award from the NFL Alumni Association. In 2000 Tony received the Male Vocalist of the Year Unity Award and in 1999 was named Branson's Best New Artist.
Rodney Dillard, a regular on "The Andy Griffith Show" as a member of the Darlin' Family, will take a look back on America's favorite hometown, Mayberry, RFD, and how those small town values apply to our lives today. Dillard of Caravell Studios in Branson currently has a nationally syndicated radio program, "A Tribute To Mayberry Values". He has performed for over 25 years with The Dillards, the band credited as the 'grandfathers of rockabilly' and bringing progressive bluegrass to the national stage.
Along with producing and performing with a variety of recording artists Dillard has numerous performances on television and in movies such as Return To Mayberry, the Beverly Hillbillies, Judy Garland Specials, Austin City Limits, and more. Dillard received the Edison Award, Grammy nominations in 1990 and 1991 for writing, producing, & performing, five Addys, and three Silver Microphone Awards.
Mike Pitman, of the Woods Resort and Director of the Christian Businessman's Committee, will emcee the Spirit Retreat. The Jim Stafford Theatre, the Braschler Music Show, and the Woods Resort sponsor the program. Tate Womack, of the Jim Stafford Theatre, comments, "We have several youth groups from outside of the Branson area coming in for this event. The Spirit Retreat is a part of their visit to Branson where they'll also be seeing the Jim Stafford Show and the Braschler Music Show.
